If a vehicle is affected by the EMP, its on-board Oxygen production will temporarily cease. In terms of game mechanics, this temporarily reduces the charge of any Battery or Power Cell affected to 0%: after a short time, it will be restored to its original level. The electromagnetic pulses are emitted as a highly concentrated ring-shape of green-colored electricity. The Prawn Suit is particularly susceptible to Crabsquid attacks as it is the only vehicle that cannot turn off its lights. Crabsquids also will physically attack light sources (such as vehicles and seabases) by slashing them with their legs. These factors makes it ill-advised to build near an area inhabited by Crabsquids or leave vehicles near Crabsquids. If light is shone at a Crabsquid they will retaliate with an EMP blast, temporarily disabling electronics, vehicles and Seabase power. However, using a vehicle's light will usually end up with the Crabsquid disabling it. Similar to the Boneshark, the Crabsquid is attracted to light and will follow certain light sources, meaning that it can be distracted using lights from the Cyclops, Seamoth, Prawn Suit, Seaglide, Flashlight or Flares. It can also be observed catching and eating smaller fauna, and attacking Warpers. Upon being approached, the creature will launch an attack, dealing 40 damage to the player. The Crabsquid swims by continuously inflating and deflating its transparent membrane, allowing for sudden bursts of movement, however it can also walk around on the seabed using its two sets of four legs. The two shortest limbs near its mouth form a pair of comparably small pincers of which it uses to attack by raising its legs. Its ten limbs are brown-colored and smooth. The Crabsquid's legs resemble those of a horseshoe crab, though tipped with small fins. The Crabsquid's head consists of four, large blue eyes with black pupils and an oddly shaped mandible below them. The hit box of the basic cabin is also too big.Īnother idea would be to make the Seatruck more expensive and harder to unlock but have access to an empty module you can use the habitat builder in.The Crabsquid's main body has two layers: a translucent, bulbous sac resembling a comb jellyfish's body, and a hard brown green body within, similar to that of a real life squid's mantle. It should be able to have more modules and/or the modules should be buffed, and they should move in a snake manner not a rigid line. And that even the useful modules are very underwhelming (well except the docking module.)Īnd you get the problem with the Seatruck, it's a good idea, with a terrible execution (well I guess it's always better than the Snowfox.) I really tried to love the Seatruck but it's just meh at best. While the Cyclops is perfect for the large open fields of the first game the Seatruck is terrible at navigating the labyrinthian caves of Below Zero, it's modular nature sounds cool until you realize that having anymore than 2 modules will make you slower than swimming and as agile as the Cyclops itself.Īdd to that how half of the modules are useless for anything except role playing. There are many reasons to hate the Seatruck. and then, of course, I had to backtrack all that way for the stupid shield generator. I abandoned my Cyclops at the bottom of the sea because I just didn't feel like it was worth piloting it back out. In fact, when I entered the containment in my prawn, I warped back to the surface with it, then grapple-jumped my way back to my base. Prawn and seamoth were all I relied on to beat the game. I'm not saying Cyclops is useless, but it literally was not useful to me at all. Same with the lava zones and primary containment I parked cyclops before entering those areas, and then used prawn to explore. which my moonpool would've done when I was crafting stuff. The only help that the cyclops was in that instance was charging my prawn suit. Got supplies to make a thermal charger and the next depth module, then returned to my real base to craft stuff. I couldn't figure out how to get it into the LR at first, so I just dove in with my prawn suit. I mean, aside from the Shield Generator, it by definition IS unnecessary.
